After completing my studies at one of the top high schools of Budapest, I received my MSc degree at ELTE-TTK as a program designer mathematician with specialization in economics. By this time though, we have already achieved international success with some of our products. I founded VisualMINDS Studio with a former classmate in the era of the first Hungarian online companies. We were specialized in the type of internet developments that go beyond the basics of the usual corporate websites, quite a difficult task at the time. We were business development- and marketing communications consultants as well as UX designers, architects and developers at the same time. We happened to be among the first ones to use Flash, and begin to think in terms of frameworks. These wide ranges of projects brought about a number of exciting challenges, too: in 2000, I worked for Hungary’s first showman Sándor Friderikusz at Gyerekszáj; was the research-writer of the most popular show of the post-regime change era in Hungary; worked as an advisor for television productions in 2002; and though we had no idea that this was the name for it, I even created a digital strategy for a consulting firm in 2004; I began my MBA studies only to stop after three semesters.
In 2005, I took part in the launch of the subsidiary of the market-leading French multinational company Ingenico as the deputy-country manager, a director for business development and later chief strategy officer. In the first year, we won the renewal of the Hungarian Mail Service’s POS network and carried out the first EMV project in Hungary. Later, I was in charge of the entire pre-sales and technology areas of Bulgaria. I built up a regional developer center, offering the best-quality software in the European-Asian-Middle Eastern-African region. My frequent travels helped me participate in various international projects, learn more about the way a multinational firm is set up, and of course build useful international relationships. Upon leaving in 2011, all Hungarian providers’ network was equipped with an Ingenico-terminal, and the market share has risen to 88 percent (from the initial zero). In the meanwhile, I offered business advice to several smaller companies with a focus on business development and service development issues and supported their market entry and strategy creation.
In 2010, we managed to successfully pilot the Metapay Festivalcard® system, in 2011, I joined Metapay as an executive, and we built the world’s first transaction system suitable for organizing safe cash-free events. But Metapay was much more than that, only about 30 percent of each project was about IT. Although the word itself did not exist at the time, we were involved in **fintech: ** we prepared payment strategies for our clients, we paid attention to customer experience, co-operated with the marketing department, built new sponsorship channels and facilities, were involved in tasks linked to cash flow, logistics and cash logistics with our own security team, offered on-site error solution, the education of users and cashiers, and the technology behind the system. We received the Hungarian Innovation Awards in 2012 and almost merged with today’s market-leader Intellitix, whose entire payment system would have been delivered by us. Until 2013, we were the exclusive partners of all events organized by Sziget Ltd., whereas more and more event organizers decided to use our services. We launched a subsidiary in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Utilizing the transaction system of Metapay, we managed to integrate pre-paid and post-paid clearing systems, loyalty-, point collecting-, entitlement management-, and identification systems to one single card. In many respects, Metapay was a world’s first these years: we were the first in the world to make an event over 3 thousand people completely cash-free; we introduced Europe’s first NFC-project; we created the first electronic ticket-system of Europe for BKV (City Pass) - then was invited as an expert to take part in BKK’s workshop for the company’s new electronic ticket concept. We were the first to integrate the MasterCard PayPass contactless payment technology to a closed payment system, and we do have a significant part in setting the high penetration level for contactless payments in Hungary, which is a significant number on an international level, too.
Following a number of transactions in 2016, I transformed Metapay into a strategic consulting firm. As the sole owner of the brand name Metapay, I gathered 20 years of expertise under this brand. It may appear to be versatile, however, I would prefer to emphasize the part linking all previous activities: strategy based on a rather unique point of view, focusing on business-based value creation where the constant education of clients is the way to the business- and market development of the future. Our projects involve unique, one-time tasks (digital strategy, digital product development, payment strategy, electronic payment strategy, cash-free payment strategy), long-term projects (service development, the sales process of a company) and continuous work (market development, business development, strategic consulting, business coaching). Our clients in the CEE region are versatile: we get the chance to support one-person micro enterprises (strategy) as well as 50-100 person SMEs (service quality, quality policy, crisis management), or big companies with hundreds of employees (business-, product- and service strategy). We support our international clients in opening their offices, setting up their services in Hungary even by representing them on the Hungarian market. We are providing and continuously developing our own products for financial institutions all over the World. In 2019 I have supported the take-off of the digital transformation of a long-time parnter financial institution group as Vice-CEO, CDO.
